THE ENGINEERING FOUNDATION
A culinary system needs more than a fluent answer. Kitchen OS combines ingredient knowledge, household context, and explicit validation boundaries.
PostgreSQL / Supabase underpins a relational data model spanning 37+ tables and a Food Knowledge Graph. Pantry-only matching constrains general recipe generation to available ingredients.
Hierarchical ltree indexing is a planned extension; it is not currently deployed.
An automated ingredient-toxicity check flags known pet risks and returns explicit pet_warnings[] with recipe output. The warning display remains user-controlled.
Safety support for pet-aware households; not veterinary advice or a guarantee that a dish is safe for pets.
Next.js, Prisma and Inngest form the application and workflow stack, with Supabase-backed shared household pantry synchronization and strict JSON v2.4 recipe validation.
Internationalized web architecture with a PWA / Capacitor delivery strategy; native distribution is a separate rollout.
